Check Services
United Bank Card offers two core Check Services programs: Electronic Check Conversion (ECC) and traditional Check Guarantee. UBC is connected to several negative check files and verification systems to ensure the best possible service for our merchants.
With check conversion technology, merchants can accept checks in the same manner as they would accept a credit card. Merchants can see immediate protection - and consequently savings - from bounced checks, bank fees and time by using Check Guarantee or Conversion services.
Additional features include stop payment protection, electronic deposits, 90-day same-as-cash, as well as several other options and premiums. Check Guarantee and Conversion offers a wealth of services beyond the basic protection from bad check writers. The service also offers additional and flexible payment options for your customers.
Electronic Check Conversion
Paper checks can now be accepted at the point-of-sale just like credit cards. Electronic Check Conversion can be easily added to your existing credit card system.
The process is very simple and requires an imager/reader to be attached to your terminal. The paper check is passed through the reader and verified against a database of negative files and bounced check writers. A match will result in an instant decline.
In some circumstances, funds can made available through supported ATM networks. If the check is approved, the paper check must be stamped “ACH Processed” and returned to your customer.
The transaction is complete at this point, and will be deposited into your bank account within 72 hours, just like a regular credit card transaction. The check conversion program is supported by an online reporting reporting system, and 24-hour customer and technical support.

Check Guarantee
Traditional check guarantee is a logical addition to any business at risk for accepting NSF or bounced checks. Guarantee service can be easily added to your existing credit card system. Checks can be manually entered or swiped through a reader for approval.
Losses and fees from bounced checks can be eliminated overnight. The guarantee system verifies the check writers information against a negative file and in some circumstances, uses the ATM networks for confirming account balances. All bounced check claims approved by our system are paid within 24-hours.
